Here are two new portraits that l have finished this autumn .One is of my brother in law ,who sadly died only 2 days ago ,he was a wonderful man ,my painting this was a way of coming to grips with his death.The other painting(three images one painting) was a commission form a fiend of mine for her husbands 65 th birthday .l felt that one painting just was nt enough to portray the different aspects of his character so I did three!!

what a difference a life makes

here are two paintings done 40 or so years apart .and yes it was me !!

Paul ,,who has now become a great friend ,l value him very much and l am so grateful to Ruth for believing in me enough to trust me with this commision .Sadly she died 2 years ago ,the painting below was done while she was ill ,she was a wonderful woman ,and l miss her very much.

What can l say about Ruth ,she had such a deep affect on me ;I guess you could say she changed me ,she challenged me ,she opened me up. I was wounded when she died ,she shared some of her dying with me and I was honoured ,I painted two portraits of her one as she was dying ,which she was happy to sit for,and the other afterwards ,pouring much of my sadness at loosing her into it .She was a grand powerful woman , tender and yet uncompromising to an unnerving degree ,I liked her ,I miss her
